Abhijit muhurat, today and for any date
The daylight is divided into fifteen muhurtas, and the eighth, which straddles local noon, is Abhijit. It is traditionally held to be good for beginning almost anything when nothing better can be chosen.

This date is a Wednesday, and tradition does not use Abhijit on a Wednesday.
A muhurat picks the hour. Your chart decides the season.
Abhijit is the same window for everyone in the city today. When a decision is big enough to need a muhurat, what matters more is whether the months around it are supportive in your own chart, and that is read from your birth minute, not the calendar.
- The supportive and heavy stretches ahead, dated, by area of life
- Marriage and work timing from your own periods
- Which doshas and afflictions actually apply to you, and which do not
- The remedies your chart says you can ignore
10 written sections, 10 years forward, about 29 minutes to read. Written in five to ten minutes, in English or Hinglish, and emailed to you.
Not ready to spend Rs 258 on a site you found today?
Choosing a big date on the word of a site you found today would be a mistake, and we would not ask you to. Check the method on years you have already lived, free, before you believe anything about the ones ahead.
Whichever you start with, the Rs 79 is credited, so the full reading is Rs 179 afterwards and the total is the same either way. A price we quote you never goes up.
Already bought the back-cast? It comes off the price, so yours is Rs 179 + GST and it is one tap in your reports.
Why it is not simply noon
Abhijit is centred on the midpoint between sunrise and sunset, which is local solar noon, not twelve o'clock. Across India that midpoint can be forty minutes either side of the clock, so the window has to be computed for the city.
What it is not
A personal muhurat. It is the same for everybody in the city that day. For an event that matters, the panchang and the charts involved decide, and Abhijit is the fallback when there is no time to choose properly.
How this is calculated
Positions come from Skyfield and the JPL DE440s ephemeris, with our own Lahiri ayanamsa referred to the mean equinox of date. Every planet agrees with Swiss Ephemeris to under one arcsecond, and the lunar node to under a tenth of one. We publish that because nobody else in this market publishes theirs.
- Skyfield. The astronomy library that computes every position on this site.
- JPL planetary ephemerides. NASA JPL's ephemeris export page. The DE440s kernel we load is the source of every raw planetary position.
- Capitaine, Wallace and Chapront (2003), IAU 2006 precession. The precession expressions our Lahiri ayanamsa is carried forward with from its J2000 anchor.
- Positional Astronomy Centre, Kolkata. The India Meteorological Department office that publishes the Rashtriya Panchang, which defines the Lahiri ayanamsa.
- Swiss Ephemeris. The reference implementation we test against: under one arcsecond on every planet. It is used only in our test suite, never on this site.
