Trikaal compared with Prokerala
Prokerala is the reference tool of this market: panchang, muhurat, choghadiya, rahukalam, KP charts, Lal Kitab, numerology, and a kundli for anything you can name a date for. If what you need is a lookup, use theirs. This page is about the case where a lookup is not what you need.
Where Prokerala is better than us
- Coverage. Their free tool set is wider than ours will be for a long time, and includes whole systems we do not touch, such as KP and Lal Kitab.
- Daily reference. Panchang, choghadiya, rahukalam and muhurat for any date, which is a genuinely useful thing to have bookmarked. We compute the panchang, choghadiya, hora and Abhijit, and their reference covers far more of the daily almanac than ours.
- Muhurat selection, which we do not do. We compute the daily windows a muhurat is chosen from and stop there.
- Speed and habit. It is a fast, stable reference site that people have used for years, and there is nothing wrong with it.
What we do differently
- A calculator answers a question you already knew how to ask. The paid reading answers the one most people actually have, which is when, and it answers it in dated windows rather than in general descriptions.
- We show the working. Every claim in the report carries a grey box naming the placement it came from, and those boxes are built from the computed facts rather than written, so an astrologer you trust can check them.
- We publish our ephemeris and our ayanamsa, and the arcsecond test against Swiss Ephemeris.
- We say plainly that the writing is done by a language model, and that the model is forbidden from doing any of the arithmetic.

When Prokerala remains the better choice
Choose Prokerala if you want a reference site to look things up in, if you want kundli matching, or if you work in KP or Lal Kitab. It is a better reference than this site and it is free.
The verdict
These are not really the same product. Prokerala is a reference. Trikaal is one long dated reading about one person. Use their calculators and ours interchangeably, then decide separately whether the reading is worth Rs 79 to test.

Everything above is an argument, and you have read enough arguments today. The reading is the thing being compared: your own chart, every date computed rather than written, and a page telling you which remedies you can ignore.

Questions
Why do your calculator results differ slightly from Prokerala's?
Where they differ it is almost always at a boundary: a planet within a few arcminutes of a sign change, or an ingress date within a day or two. We compute from the JPL ephemeris and refine the crossing by bisection, and we tell you when your ascendant is close enough to a boundary that the answer is not safe. Neither of those is a claim that theirs is wrong.
Do you have kundli matching?
Yes, at /kundli-milan, and it prints the working: which varna, yoni, gana and nadi each koota was scored from, for both people. It also reports the Nadi and Bhakoot cancellations separately rather than quietly adding the points back, so our total is comparable with everyone else's.
Is your panchang as good as theirs?
It computes sunrise for the place you name and derives the tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana and the Rahu Kaal windows from it. It does not do muhurat selection, which theirs does. For that, use Prokerala.
