What you get, and what it means
The square diagram is the North Indian style chart, so the houses are fixed and the signs move. The table under it is the part an astrologer reads: each planet's exact degree, the nakshatra it falls in, whether it is retrograde, whether it is combust, and whether it sits in a sign it owns, is exalted in, or is debilitated in.
The divisional charts
D9 is read for marriage and for the underlying strength of a planet, D10 for career, D7 for children, D12 for parents, D3 for siblings and courage, D2 for wealth. They are computed on every chart here and printed, rather than sold back to you as a separate report.
How this is calculated
Positions come from Skyfield and the JPL DE440s ephemeris, with our own Lahiri ayanamsa referred to the mean equinox of date. Every planet agrees with Swiss Ephemeris to under one arcsecond, and the lunar node to under a tenth of one. We publish that because nobody else in this market publishes theirs.

- JPL planetary ephemerides. NASA JPL's ephemeris export page. The DE440s kernel we load is the source of every raw planetary position.
- Capitaine, Wallace and Chapront (2003), IAU 2006 precession. The precession expressions our Lahiri ayanamsa is carried forward with from its J2000 anchor.
- Positional Astronomy Centre, Kolkata. The India Meteorological Department office that publishes the Rashtriya Panchang, which defines the Lahiri ayanamsa.
- Swiss Ephemeris. The reference implementation we test against: under one arcsecond on every planet. It is used only in our test suite, never on this site.
Questions about your janam kundli, calculated properly
Is this the same as the kundli from another site?
The placements will match on almost every chart, because the underlying astronomy is not in dispute. Where ours differs is precision at the boundaries: if a planet or your ascendant is within a few arcminutes of a sign change, a table-driven tool can put it in the wrong sign and will not tell you. We check and we say so.
Why does my sign here differ from my newspaper horoscope?
Because that is the tropical zodiac and this is the sidereal one. They differ by about twenty four degrees at present, which is most of a sign, so roughly four people in five get a different Sun sign here. Neither is a mistake; they are two different reference frames.
What if I do not know my birth time?
Enter your best guess and read the ascendant warning below the chart. It tells you how many minutes of clock time you have before the ascendant changes sign. If that number is small, the house positions are not reliable and only the planetary signs should be trusted.
