Your Sade Sati, with the dates

Sade Sati is the roughly seven and a half years Saturn spends crossing the sign before your Moon, your Moon sign itself, and the sign after it. Most tools will tell you whether it is running. This one gives you the date each of the three phases begins and ends, because a period you cannot date is a period you cannot plan around.

The same for everyone with that Moon sign. If you do not know yours, the form below works it out from your birth details.

No account, no email, nothing stored. This runs the same engine the paid reading runs on.

You have the dates. What nobody tells you is where it lands.

Two people in the same phase of Sade Sati on the same day do not have the same year, and the difference is not luck. It is which house Saturn is crossing in your chart, how many bindus that house carries, and what your running dasha is doing underneath it. The table above is the same for everyone born under your Moon sign. The reading is not.

Half of what is written about Sade Sati is written to frighten you into buying a stone, so you are right to be sceptical of anyone selling you something on this page. Take the free one instead. It describes years that have already happened, including the hard ones, and you will know within a minute whether we are guessing.

Whichever you start with, the Rs 79 is credited, so the full reading is Rs 179 afterwards and the total is the same either way. A price we quote you never goes up.

Already bought the back-cast? It comes off the price, so yours is Rs 179 + GST and it is one tap in your reports.

What the three phases actually differ in

The first phase, Saturn in the twelfth from your Moon, usually shows up as expense, sleep and a sense of carrying something alone. The peak phase, Saturn over the Moon itself, is the one that touches mood and health directly. The final phase, Saturn in the second, tends to sit in money and family rather than in the body. The three do not feel alike and treating them as one seven year block is why the reputation is worse than the reality.

Dhaiya, the small panoti

Saturn crossing the fourth and the eighth from your Moon is a separate two and a half year pressure, often confused with Sade Sati because it arrives in the gap between them. We list those windows separately below the main table rather than folding them in, so you can see which is which.

How this is calculated

Positions come from Skyfield and the JPL DE440s ephemeris, with our own Lahiri ayanamsa referred to the mean equinox of date. Every planet agrees with Swiss Ephemeris to under one arcsecond, and the lunar node to under a tenth of one. We publish that because nobody else in this market publishes theirs.

Questions about your sade sati, with the dates

Is Sade Sati always bad?

No. It is a period of load, not a period of loss. Saturn rewards work that was already being done properly and exposes work that was not. The people who report it as devastating are usually in the peak phase with a weak natal Moon; the people who barely notice it are usually already living the way Saturn asks.

Which Moon sign is used, the Indian one or the Western one?

The sidereal Moon sign, which is the Vedic one. If you have been told a Moon sign by a Western astrologer it will usually be one sign later than the one used here, and the Sade Sati dates would then be wrong by about two and a half years.

Does Sade Sati happen more than once?

Yes. Saturn takes about twenty nine and a half years to go round, so most people get two full passes in a normal lifespan and some get three. The second one, usually in the late thirties or forties, is the one people remember.

Why do your dates differ from another site by a few days?

Because a sign change is a moment, not a day, and most free tools read it from a table rather than computing it. Ours is computed from the JPL ephemeris and refined to the crossing. If a date matters to you, treat the boundary week as the boundary rather than the exact day.

Do I need my birth time for this?

Not strictly. Sade Sati depends on your Moon sign, and the Moon takes about two and a quarter days to change sign, so an approximate time usually gives the right answer. We still ask, because a birth near a Moon sign change is exactly the case where an approximate time gives the wrong one, and we would rather tell you.
